The Gurgaon-headquartered company was founded in 2016 by Gupta and began selling the products three years later. In addition to its own platform, Clensta sells its products through ecommerce channels as well as in offline chains including Health and Glow and Tata 1 MG.
Actor-turned-entrepreneur Chopra had invested in the sustainable personal care products maker last year, by acquiring a minority stake in the company. The direct-to-consumer player sells a range of personal care products some of which are based on waterless technology.
The company operates from the Biotechnology Business Incubation Facility at IIT-Delhi, which serves as its residency. Clensta’s cutting-edge products are well on their way for defense, home healthcare, and various hospitals across the nation.
Clensta has touched an annual run rate (ARR) of Rs 100 crore in FY24, which it forecasted to reach Rs 1,000 crore in the next three years, as mentioned by the company officials.
What is Waterless Technology
Waterless technology helps eliminate water usage for personal care needs. One can use a 100 ml bottle of rinse-free body wash and easily wipe it off as it does not leave much residue instead of taking a standard bucket bath. This spells convenience and guarantees significant water conservation, a vital step towards a sustainable future. The Indian government has granted Clensta a patent for its waterless invention.
The brand has also worked on STAR technology (safe transdermal absorption of reactive ingredients), which helps improve the efficacy of personal care and wellness products. Simply put, it works like a medical patch, allowing nano-sized nutrients like iron, iodine and vitamins to reach the bloodstream through skin pores for long-lasting benefits. Clensta is reportedly working on such ‘healthy’ lip colours and bindis that may soon take the Bharat market by storm as nutritional and wellness disparities plague Indian women.
Its formulations contain active ingredients like niacinamide, glutathione, hyaluronic acid etc and the effective market-first ingredients, including red aloe vera, rosemary, egg extracts to maximise their personal care benefits.
Clensta waterless personal hygiene products make hygiene accessible to everyone, everywhere. Later, it launched India’s first innovative homecare solution with smart refills and this ingenious range created with EBDC technology ensures effective cleaning, disinfection, and deodorization, while reducing product cost and single-use plastic.
