Rahul Gandhi alleges voter deletion

  • The Election Commission of India said, “Allegations made by Shri Rahul Gandhi are incorrect and baseless. No deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public.
  • The Election Commission of India on Thursday denied Rahul Gandhi’s claims as “incorrect and baseless” as Mr. Gandhi alleged that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was protecting those involved in voter deletion scams.
  • In a strongly worded reaction, the poll body said, “Allegations made by Shri Rahul Gandhi are incorrect and baseless. No deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public, as misconceived by Shri Rahul Gandhi.
  • The Election Commission of India further claimed that no voter can be removed from the rolls without due process: “No deletion can take place without giving an opportunity of being heard to the affected person.
  • On the issue highlighted by Rahul Gandhi concerning Karnataka’s Aland constituency, the Election Commission of India admitted that attempts were made fraudulently delete voters in 2023 but these attempts were unsuccessful.
  • The Election Commission of India also pointed out that elections in Aland reflected fair outcomes with BJP’s Subhadh Guttedar emerging victorious in 2018 and Congress’ BR Patil in 2023.
