Chirag Paswan Expresses His Wish to Return to Bihar: The Polls
Mr.Paswan is all set to contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Not many seats are reserved for him. His future role in state politics?

Paswan wishes to Return to Bihar in the Assembly Elections
- In the recent few weeks, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan has publicly expressed his wish to return to Bihar after winning the Assembly elections. He is pitching for the position of becoming the King in state politics.
- As a part of a seat-sharing agreement, the BJP leadership believes Mr. Paswan can contest from any seat allotted to him by his party. According to the ruling party, he’s observed to take advantage of the state of confusion.
- Now, all eyes are on Paswan’s public rally in Ara in the Bhojpur District of Bihar. The Union Minister for Food Processing Industries recently announced in the Modi Cabinet that he’d be contributing to the development of Bihar.
- In the last assembly election, the relationship between Nitish and Chirag hampered hitting the latter’s chances in 36 to 40 seats. Recent ‘bonhomie’ in public suggested both the leaders blamed at each other.
- Earlier, senior RJD and Congress leaders attacked Chirag, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief and former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi (both Dalit leaders) as they were silent on rape-murder incident.
- Chirag vehemently criticized and questioned the Nitish government and law and order of the state pointing out the 9 – year old Dalit girl rape only a few months away from the polls. Chirag in his letter mentioned that the administration did not “provide prompt treatment and lost precious time”. "It is not simply a matter of death as it has become a symbol of the failure of our social system and a failure of our constitutional responsibility. If the administration stays silent, this silence will become the biggest crime," he asserted
- Paswan’s statements comes at a time when Nitish Kumar started believing that his time in Bihar politics is coming to an end. The LJP (RV) leader has political aspirations beyond their current role. The party may have won 5 seats in the last Lok Sabha elections, but the part is not as big as Nitish Kumar’s. They won 18.52% vote share.
- BJP complements the Paswan could emerge as a broader political figure, not limited to the traditional supporters of his party. He aims to broaden his political appeal beyond his core caste or community group. Although he enjoys strong support from his community, he understands the need to broaden his appeal and is carefully strategizing his moves.
- The BJP’s strategic caution in managing alliance, likely referring to balance parties like JD (U) and LJP (or factions thereof)
- • In Bihar, any alliance between two of the three major players – the BJP, JD(U) and RJD – is often enough to create a winning electoral formula. The shows how coalition dynamics are central to Bihar politics.
- As the BJP maintains its dominance at the national level, Bihar’s political landscape remains a key battleground that can significantly influence its prospects.
