    Yogi Factor Bolsters

  • Strung by polls, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath acted on lightning speed. He conducted a meeting with administrative departments and chartered out clear instructions.
  • First and foremost, filling up empty positions in government departments need to be expedited. Departments officers with huge vacancies must share the requisitions with the Selection Commission and the process of filtering the requisitions must be scrutinized thoroughly. CM had been categorical that the selection timeline needs to be abided.
  • Yogi stressed that the welfare schemes of Labhartis must be maintained adequately on the CM dashboard for enhanced monitoring.
  • CM has focussed a great deal on National Rural Employment Scheme Generation Scheme and said that there should not be unnecessary delay in wages.
  • He took sweep and constructive steps towards specific burning issues. He promptly restarted Janata Darshan and heard people’s grievances on powers cuts and women safety. Once again, he remained confident that all grievances to be addressed withing a given timeline.
  • After the 2024 general election, in the first meeting of BJP and RSS, Yogi Adityanath might be meeting Mohan Bhagwat. They are likely to discuss RSS expansion in Uttar Pradesh.
  • From margin to mainstream

  • One of the most fierce Chief Ministers in the country was once the head priest of Goraknath Math, a Hindu temple in Gorakhpur.
  • Since his very youth, Yogi Adityanath had been associated with the BJP and started his political journey as a student leader in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh affiliate, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
  • He joined the BJP in 1991 and was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1998. The CM’s tenure had a distinctive Hindutva philosophy and his call for nationwide ban of cow slaughter had created unprecedented contention.
  • Known to have taken tough stance on occasion, Adityanath Yogi was born in small town of Panchur, in Uttarakhand. He pursued a Batchelor’s degree in Mathematics and joined the Ayodhya Ram temple movement in the 1990s.
  • Lesser-known fact, Adityanath Yogi renounces his family and became a disciple of Mahant Avaidyanath, the former high priest of Gorakhnath Math at the tender age of 21.
  • Modi-Yogi Charm

  • Politically significant state Uttar Pradesh with 80 parliamentary seats had the ability to make or break the government at the Centre. From 1996 onwards Uttar Pradesh had essayed a pivotal path in retaining BJP’s dominant national role. 72 seats in 2014 and 62 in 2019, its relevance towards Modi’s political hegemony had only been reinforced.
  • The initial phase of Adityanath Yogi’s chief ministership met with roadblocks. His power was succumbed regarding appointment of officers in CMO. A quiet thought process was that Narendra Modi was running a parallel government in Uttar Pradesh.
  • However, Modi’s constant pressure on Yogi finally aided him to remain one of the longest serving Chief Ministers in the state.
  • Editor’s Note

Adityanath Yogi led the life of a sanyasi and a politician. In his own words, he coined the role as ‘antarmukhi’ and ‘bahirmukhi’ and maybe he essayed this dual role near to perfection. After the Lok Sabha poll setback, Yogi is geared for further ‘lokkalyan’ and talking about ‘atmakalyan’ he had been practising it for years.
