What did Samir Modi’s FIR read?

  • Late K.K. Modi’s Rs.11,000crore fortune had turned into a mirky affair! The family feud included his wife Bina Modi, the Chairman and Managing Director of Godfrey Philips, their elder son and the former IPL Supremo, Lalit Modi and the younger son Samir Modi who is currently the Executive Director.
  • Samir Modi had filed a complaint in Sarita Vihar police station. As depicted by the ED, he was about to enter the board meeting when Bina Modi’s personal security blocked his entry and twisted his arm hard resulting in a broken finger.
  • Despite being injured Samir Modi went on to attend the meeting where he was told by an unperturbed Bina Modi had instructed her security officers now to allow her own to enter the boardroom.
  • Soon after the meeting ended, the younger son undertook medical aid whose result mentioned that his index finger has been broken into two parts which can only be fixed through wire and screw.
  • Samir Modi had shared with the press that this attack was consciously devised by his mother and her security officer, Bhasin so that he scores down to settle the inheritance on unequal terms.
  • Samir also accuses his mother of not distributing funds as outlined in a trust deed executed by his father.
  • In Battle

  • The Modi Family commands $2.8 billion of the Modi Group which comprises of Godfrey Philips India, Indofil Industries Limited and Modicare Limited. Godfrey Phillips India is the flagship company of Modi Enterprises. It manufactures popular cigarette brands including Four Square, Red and White, Cavanders, Tipper and North Pole. It also manufactures and distributes cigarette brand Marlboro. Samir Modi heads the company’s retail and cosmetics division.
  • In the fourth quarter of FY 2024, Godfrey Phillips reported a 46.25% rise in its consolidated net profit, reaching Rs 215.12 crore compared to Rs 147.09 crore in the same quarter last year.
  • Revenue for the period also increased by 21% to Rs 965 crore from Rs 796.1 crore in the corresponding period last year.
  • The fight over this family inheritance will leave a dreadful mark on the brand. Samir Modi is the brother of Lalit Modi, the Ex-Chairperson and founder of IPL (Indian Premier League). He also supported his brother on social media.
  • Editor’s Note

The ongoing dispute over late KK Modi’s inheritance is drawing attention of various media houses which will impact the image of the brand. The family feud is drawing lines between Bina Modi and the brother duo.
