suspicion of being a Chinese government spy has now released the poor bird to return to the borderless sky.

    So what is the story?
A bird put in jail on charges of being a spy:
  • The pigeon’s ordeal began when it was captured near a port in Mumbai with two rings tied to its legs, carrying a message that was said to look like it was in Chinese, local media said.
  • The bird's suspicious appearance at a port where international vessels dock triggered the investigation.
  • Police suspected it was involved in espionage and took it in.
  • Apparently, an interrogation was held involving the forensics team.
  • Later sending it was sent to Mumbai’s Bai Sakarbai Dinshaw Petit hospital for animals.
  • Eventually, it was revealed that the pigeon was an open-water racing bird from Taiwan that had escaped and made its way to India.
  • With police permission, the bird was transferred to the Bombay Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, whose doctors set it free.
  • EDITOR’S NOTE:

At the age of satellite surveillance, does China, the second largest military establishment in the world really need a pigeon to spy on India? Was a chargesheet filed against the pigeon by the Indian police in any court before arresting? Can a pigeon hire a lawyer to defend herself? Is it just bureaucratic paranoid or there is more than what meets our eyes? A story within story?
