He also follows a vegan diet with his wife, Kalpana Das. 2000 employees of the Supreme Court were encouraged to follow this holistic routine to handle their everyday stress.

  • For Chandrachud, law has been the principle of eternal justice and public service is his objective.
  • The Chandrachud family was born with the legal genes running to the fourth generation. His father was the 16th and longest-serving chief justice of the country, and both his sons are lawyers too.
  • Chandrachud was one of the judges who had decriminalised homosexuality in a landmark judgment in 2018. In the same year, he allowed women of all ages to worship at Sabarimala, where age-old tradition had restricted their entry to the temple. This stalwart had ruled in 2017 that the right to privacy was a fundamental right under the Constitution, thus impacting the government and global platforms like Facebook and Instagram to collect personal data.
